Bibliotheca Hermetica Philosophica
The Bibliotheca Hermetica Philosophica or so known J.R. Ritman Library as The library off hermetic philosophy in Amsterdam is a founded Bibliothèque in 1957 by J.R. Ritman and is with Amsterdam (Netherlands).
It is about a library, whose old bottom are important and who is specialized in the Christian Hermétisme , the Alchimie, the Mysticisme and the tradition Rosicrucien.
The Library places at the disposal of the researchers the largest collection of originals and correspondences on the subject of the esotericism since the Rebirth.
The BPH counted in 1989,16200 writings of which 4000 go up before the year 1800 with 300 incunables of the 15th century and 400 manuscripts of which 150 date from the Middle Ages. With regard to the Rosicrucian brotherhood, she says to have indexed all the known writings going from 1600 to 1654.
More than 4500 pounds these questions treat, which, after 1800 are gathered in the modern part of this library…. (figures of 1995)
Since, this bottom grew rich and is famous for its original works of Jacob Boehme, Paracelse, Marsile Ficin and Giordano Bruno… It includes/understands one of the first German bibles and an illustrated edition going back to 1481 of the " Divine comedy " of Dante.
Doctor Carlos Gilly currently exerts the spot of Librarian of the BPH and wrote works on Hermétisme.Il also published research on the history of the Rosicrucian brotherhood of the XVIIe century or on Paracelse.
The BPH organizes symposiums on the topic of hermetism and the Rosicrucian brotherhood in the museums and large libraries in collaboration, in certain cases with the Royal Library of the Netherlands, of the Arts center maconnic, the theosophic Union of Sociétas Rosicruciana in Anglia, Rosicrucian Fellowship, Amorc. The BPH profits from the contest of other collections " savantes". In 1999, the Dutch state acquired a big part of the BPH for 19 million euros.
