Biblical Studies
The biblical studies are the academic study of the Bible Judeo-Christian and the corresponding texts.
For the Christianity, the Bible traditionally includes/understands the First Will and the New Testament, which are sometimes called the " Holy Scriptures ".
The Judaïsme recognizes like Écriture the Hebraic Bible, so known under the name of Tanakh, which is an acronym for the names in Hebrew of its divisions: Torah (Law), Nevi' im (Prophets) and Ketuvim (written). Other texts are often studied by the biblical scholars: Jewish apocryphal books, Jewish pseudépigraphes, Christian apocryphal books, many kinds of pre-Nicéenne literature of primitive Christianime, and Jewish primitive literature.
The biblical studies are composed mainly of the Exégèse and the Herméneutique.
Interpretation and Hermeneutics
There are thus two principal branches in the biblical studies:
- the Exégèse is pursued the study of the sources: successive origins, authenticity, translations, etc
- the Herméneutique sticks to the interpretation of the sources: which Sens is necessary to allot to the texts?
Principles of biblical interpretation (hermeneutics)
The principal idea is that a text cannot be only interpreted according to its Sens first or literal Sens. Other directions exist generally, called spiritual Sens.

Many basic principles of biblical interpretation comprise certain similarities between the Judaism and the Christianisme. Christianity indeed borrowed from the Judaism the method of interpretation of the texts according to four directions. These directions according to the Judaism are: Peshat (literal), remez , Drash , sod . In Christianity, the four directions are not exactly the same ones as in the Judaism, quite simply because Christianity seeks to establish the link between the First Will and the New Testament, which is made through the allegorical Sens.
