Bezprym

Bezprym , from the dynasty of the Piasts, was born in 986/987 and deceased at spring 1032.

He is the oldest son of Boleslas Ier Valiant the and of his second Hungarian wife Judith. His/her father has it deposed of his right to succeed to him, with the profit of his brother Mieszko II Lambert, wire of his third Emnilda wife of Lusace. About the year 1000, Bezprym is far away from the court by his/her father who sends it to the Monastère of Pereum, close to Ravenne.

It returns in Poland only in 1025, after the death of his father, to assert the throne. Conrad II the Salic one, which has problems with the Burgundy, the Lotharingie and the Hungary (of combined of Mieszko II Lambert), about the succession in Bavaria, plots with Bezprym and Otto against their brother Mieszko II. In 1026, the plot against Mieszko II is discovered and Bezprym must exile itself in the Rus' of Kiev.

In September 1031, pretexting that the legitimate sovereign is Bezprym and that it is entitled to the throne, the Saint Empire and Rus of Kiev launch an offensive against Poland whereas simultaneously starts a pagan rebellion caused by Bezprym. Mieszko II Lambert must take refuge in Bohemia while Bezprym goes up on the throne. He recognizes the Suzerain be of the emperor Conrad II but must face a vast movement of opposition of the tycoons against him. Poland becomes again a duchy and Bezprym sends Rycheza (Ryksa), woman of Mieszko and cousin of Conrad II, to bring back the badges of the royalty to the emperor. He is assassinated shortly after.
