Betio
Betio is an island of the Atoll of Tarawa, in the archipelago of the islands Gilbert (Kiribati).
A dam suitable for motor vehicles connects it to Bairiki, the principal administrative center of the country. Sit of the ministry for Tourism and Trade. Sit of the philatelic office of the Kiribati (cf Philatélie of the Kiribati). Battle in 1943 for the possession of the airport (transferred since to Bonriki, 20 km, on Tarawa-South). Very strong human density (in the neighborhoods of 2.500 h/km ², which does of them one of strongest the densities in the world for a nonurban zone.
