Bessos
Bessos or Bessus , satrap of the Bactriane under Darius III.
After the Battle of Gaugamèles in 331 av. J. - C., it assassinates Darius in the borders of the Médie, takes the title of king of Perse under the name of Artaxerxès and takes refuge in Bactriane. Alexandre continues the usurper, who moreover deprived it of a trophy, and delivers it to a brother of Darius, which makes it perish in the cruelest torments.
