Bertrimoutier

Bertrimoutier is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called the Bertrimonastériens .

Geography

Bertrimoutier is composed of a center being developed around the church, on a small hill dominating the valley of the Fave, and of some hamlets: Bonipaire, Layegoutte, the Bosom and Renigoutte.

History

It is in Bertrimoutier that was created the first of the eighteen agricultural colonies established by the monks of Saint-Dié as of the 8th century. The monastery ( moutier ) was founded towards 1171 by the monk Bertherus , disciple of holy Déodat, and depended on the monastery of Saint-Dié. In its turn, the colony of Bertherus in essaima of others in the surrounding small valleys. In 1790, the Parish of Bertrimoutier, which gathered the boroughs of Combrimont, Bonipaire, Layegoutte, Lesseux, Frapelle, Neuvillers, Pair, Grandrupt and Raves, was already called the Large Parish . In 1848, the hamlets of Bonipaire and Layegoutte were attached to the commune.
