History
The village of Bertreville could be well that which is indicated by the names of Scibertivilla and of Scibertivillam in the old manuscripts. Then, it is called Bertril-City then Bertreville-under-Venice and finally Bertreville-Saint-Ouen after Saint-Ouen-Bren-in-Purse to him was attached on March 17th, 1823.The name of Venice was given to a cabaret - located on " main road of Roy" - by one of the generals who had accompanied Charles VIII in his forwarding by Italy in 1494. Such is the origin of the names of Florence and Milan, given to nearby hamlets. " Main road of Roy" in 1741 became a royal road then the Trunk road 27 before becoming the secondary road 927.
Formerly the parish offered each year a bread blesses in the honor of saint Hubert, Saint-Owner of the hunters. Because a very old tradition, extremely widespread in the area, known as that " of memory of man nobody in Bertreville was reached rage, and that there forever considering circulating no animal this terrible maladie" is reached;. The old parish of Saint-Ouen, joined together today in Bertreville, bore the name of " formerly; Saint-Ouen-Bren-in-Bourse" or " Saint-Ouen-Take-in-Bourse". The old titles of the Cathédrale of Rouen mention " ecclesia sancti Audoeni de Bruenenbosc". The expression " Bren-in-Bourse" , would come from " Busc" or " Bosc" , i.e. " Bois". " Bren-in-Bourse" thus the same etymology has as " Bornenbusc" or " Bornambuse" ; it would be in Latin " Files in Bosco" , " borne" or " limite" in a wood. This etymology, purely Gallic proves also the antiquity of this parish. The church of " Saint-Ouen-Bren-in-Bourse" was burned on August 20th, 1798, with vicariate, the castle, the farm and all the dependences. The fire was caused accidentally by the fall of a lantern in a barn close to the church. This church was similar to that of Bertreville, the chorus out of flint and the sandstone nave. It had a beautiful baptistry hones some which would be today in the church of Tourville on Arques. The materials were sold, and carries it out of sandstone, carrying the date of 1540, was used as entry with the spinning mill of Vaudreville before decorating the frontage of one house at the entry of Longueville-on-Saw. The owner of this vault is holy Lubin, that rather many pilgrims come to request 3rd Monday of September, or Monday which follows 3rd Sunday of September. In 1835, the vault was rebuilt. The roof was remade in 1992 and the interior was restored in 1993-1994 by inhabitants of the village. A vault dedicated to saint François d' Assise and François saint of Paule existed formerly with the hamlet of " Boss-the Abbot. At the 11th century there existed still the Roman Voie which passed by Caudebec, Doudeville, Bacqueville, Pierreville, Bertreville, Manéhouville, Charlesmesnil and Tourville to reach Arques and which one found vestiges with Pierreville from which this hamlet draws its name.

Church
Replacing a vault dating from the 13th century of which there remain nothing, the parish church dedicated to Saint Michel archangel was almost entirely rebuilt out of sandstone of the 16th century. The frame of the nave of the Saint-Michel church had been remade in 1750 per Guillaume Marie, carpenter of Bacqueville-in-Caux. For lack of maintenance, the diagrids of the nave, the bell-tower, the walls of the bell-tower and the sacristy are dilapidated. The church is rebuilt on plans of the Barthélémy architect, with the assistance of the State grants. All the sandstones of XVIe are re-used for the bases and the clotheshangers of the window. Part of the chorus, repaired in 1743 and the furnace bridge, carried out by Patron in 1782 are preserved. This new church is devoted by the Cardinal of Bonnechose on June 29th 1865.
After the war 1939-1945, the stained glasses destroyed by the bombardments were remade by certain Maumejan.
