Bertrand Guillaume Carcel
Bertrand Guillaume Carcel is a French clock and watch maker, born in 1750, died in Paris in 1812.
The Carcel lamp
Guillaume Carcel develops in 1800 his Oil lamp (of Colza, for example) comprising a suction-driving back Pompe actuated by an engine of clock industry, which ensures the constant food of the wick.
The tank is not side any more: it is now under the burner.
This lamp, on foot, has a burner with cylindrical wick and mobile carry-glass to regulate the flame.
The glass-chimney is with throttling on the level of the flame.
The Carcel lamp considered expensive and fragile, was reserved for fortunate customers.
