Bertie Mee
Bertie Mee , born the December 25th 1918 in Bullwell, close to Nottingham, and deceased the October 22nd 2001, was a Football or English become then trainer.
Biography
He began with Derby County FC then Mansfield Town but a wound very early put a term at its career of player. It joined the medical community of the British armed then, followed a formation of physiotherapeutist, and spent six years there reaching the rank of Sergent. It succeeded Billy Milne within the staff of Arsenal Football Club.After the dismissal of Billy Wright in 1966, it was named at the station of managing. Arsenal had not gained a trophy any more since 1953, but under the direction of Mee a group of young players including/understanding Charlie George, John Radford and Ray Kennedy started to appear. Arsenal twice reached consecutively the final of the League Cup in 1968 and 1969, but was beaten by Leeds United then Swindon Town. The following season, the club finally gained its first European title by beating RSC Anderlecht of the Cut of the Towns of Fairs, the ancestor of the UEFA Cup.
Arsenal gained then doubled in 1971. The exit of the championship decided even with White Hart Lane, on the ground of the rivals of always Tottenham, at the time of the last match of the season. Five days later Arsenal gained the Cup by beating the Liverpool Football Club 2-1 with Wembley, the victorious goal being registered during the prolongations by Charlie George.
Thereafter Bertie Mee does not succeed in being based on these successes to conquer new titles, in 1972 Arsenal was inclined again vis-a-vis Leeds United, this time finally of Cup, and the club sank little by little in anonymity. Mee presented its resignation in 1976, it then joined Watford as an assistant of Graham Taylor. It was in load of recruitment, then belonged to the direction of the club until its retirement, in 1991.
In 1984 Bertie Mee received the title of member of the Order of the British Empire, it is deceased in 2001 at the 82 years age.
