They are very close, their history, their localization and their aptitudes being close.

History

They belong to the red branch of the fair Rameau and red. According to the authors, they would come from the domestication of Bos taurus ibericus , a Spanish branch of the Aurochs or Bos taurus africanus , come from the the Sahara in the Antiquité.

Morphology

It is a race of big size: 138 cm with the garrot for 600 kg in the cow and 143 cm for 900 kg in the bull. The trunk is broad, giving an impression of short and frail legs. The pace is massive.
  • Berrenda in Colorado or berrenda roja' : it wears a red black and white dress. The distribution is done as on his/her black cousin. The tone can go from the bright red to the brown mahogany tree. She is of more reduced size: 125-135 cm for 500-800 kg.

Aptitudes

They are traditionally high races for their meat and their labor force.
Autrefois, they were high for the feature: cows in the agriculture, and oxen castrated for cartage. The ore cartage employed a great number of it. With the use of mules then mechanization, they became beef breeds where they excel, in particular in crossing with selected races.
