Bernat de Rocafort (? - Aversa, Campanie 1309) was one of the chiefs of the Large company of the Almogavre S. Appartenant to the mobility of the king Frederic II of Sicily, it had two castles in Calabria which it had to yield to the king Robert Ier of Naples when was signed the Paix of Caltabellotta, in 1302. But it required before to be paid pay that one owed him, which was worth the hatred of king Robert to him.

Having regulated its problem, it joined Roger de Flor in Constantinople, with the head of thousand Almogavres and thousand two hundred knights, travelling on two galères. Ramon Muntaner went to receive them in Anæa, then they passed to Éphèse. Roger de Flor appointed it marshal of the army and promised in marriage it to his/her daughter. It fought valiantly against the Turks with the battle of the Monts of Taurus and arrived, with the remainder of the troop, to the Doors of Cilicie 1 (1304).

After the assassination of Roger de Flor and the admiral Ferran d' Ahonés, and that Berenguer d' Entença was imprisoned in Genoa, Rocafort became de facto the chief of the Catalan Company (1305). They remained during two years with Gallipoli, being defended successfully against the Greeks and their allies.

When Berenguer d' Entença was of return, Bernat de Rocafort did not want to recognize it as chief, and the discord settled at Almogavres. The ones followed Entença, while the others, to which Turks and of Turcopoles united, did not give up Rocafort. At this point in time arrived infant it Ferdinand (Ferran) of Majorque, that Rocafort refused like representative of Frederic II of Sicily, knowing that Ferdinand would remain faithful to king de Sicile and would refuse chapeauter the Company in its own name. Infant thus preferred to set out again rather than to be unfair.

Almogavres decided to give up Gallipoli and to move towards Christopolis, by leaving an interval between the troops of Berenguer d' Entença and those of Bernat de Rocafort, in order to avoid any incident. This one occurred nevertheless, and Humbert de Rocafort, brother of Bernat, like Dalmau Sant Martí, their uncle, killed Berenguer d' Entença.

Bernat de Rocafort found only chief of Almogavres. Indicator which it had cut from the houses of Sicily, Aragon and Majorque, it approached Charles de Valois it even which had fought against Frederic II of Sicily and which had become titular emperor of Constantinople and made him allegiance by lending oath to Thibaud de Cepoy ², its representative.

They fought together during two years, with an aim of conquering the Mount Athos and Salonique, where Rocafort thought of being crowned king. They did not succeed there, just like failed the matrimonial project of Rocafort with a half-sister of Guy II of the Rock, duke of Athens.

Bernat de Rocafort was ambitious and tyrannical, and it ends up being made hate its troops, just like it could attract itself the enmity of Thibaud de Cepoy, that it “did not consult more than one dog”, according to the expression of Ramon Muntaner. Of agreement with the other chiefs of the Company, Cepoy stopped Rocafort and his/her Humbert brother and sent them to Naples where king Robert, who had not forgotten the business of the castles of Calabria, threw them in the oubliettes of the castle of Aversa, in which it let them die of hunger, in 1309.
