Bernardino Fungai

Bernardino Fungai (His, 1460 - His 1516) is an Italian painter of the Sienan school.

He probably studies in the workshops of the Masters of the town of His because he is noted first apprentice of a painter of the city in 1482 for the monochromic frescos of the cupola of the Dôme of His and one of its works signed and gone back to 1512 is in a church of the city.

It also paints narrative scenes on cassone (trunks of marriage decorated) and he is specialist in painting to gold (panel of trunk of the Magnanimité of Scipio Africanus ).

In 1494, it is commissioned for banners gold and azure, and 5 years later, it paints the organ case of the cathedral.

He collaborated in several works with Francesco di Giorgio Martini (retable of Tancredi).
