Bernard Tissier de Mallerais

Bernard Tissier de Mallerais , born on September 14th, 1945 with Sallanches in Haute-Savoie, is a bishop traditionalist devoted the June 30th 1988 by Mgr Marcel Lefebvre, superior of the sacerdotal Fraternité Saint-Magpie X.

Youth

After academic works, it enters to the seminar Saint-Magpie X to Freiburg to Switzerland in October 1969. It is ordered priest on June 29th, 1975 with Écône by Mgr Lefebvre. He is successively professor, then sub-manager and director with the seminar of Ecône. He will assume then the load of General secretary of the sacerdotal Fraternité Saint-Magpie X.

The sacring and excommunication

Devoted the June 30th 1988 by Mgr Marcel Lefebvre, it is excommunicated latae sententiae , i.e. by the fact even of the act posed.
Le cardinal Bernardin Gantin, prefect of Sacrée Congrégation for the bishops, issues on July 1st 1988 by the decree Dominus Marcellus that Mgr Lefebvre “posed a schismatic act” while devoting without pontifical mandate. In support of its declaration, it quotes the guns 1382 and 1364-1 of the canonical Code of right (1983):
“the Bishop who, without pontifical mandate, devotes Évêque somebody, and the same that which receives the dedication of this Bishop incur excommunication latæ sententiæ reserved for the Apostolic Seat. ”
“the apostate of the faith, the heretic or the schismatic incur an excommunication latæ sententiæ. ”
Il thus declares excommunicated Mgr Lefebvre itself, Mgr of Castro-Mayer, the bishop Co-consécrateur, and the four new bishops of which Mgr Tissier de Mallerais. The following day, by the Motu landlord Ecclesia Dei, Jean-Paul II reminds faithful that those which “adhere formally” to the Schisme incur them also the Excommunication.

Activities since 1988

In 1991, he is the principal consecrator of Licinio Rangel, in order to give a successor to M {{gr.}} of Castro-Mayer to the head of the Union Saint-Jean-Marie-Vianney. There remains general secretary of the FSSPX until 1996. It is then charged to prepare a life of M {{gr.}} Lefebvre, a long research task. The book appears in Librairie in 2002. Mgr Tissier de Mallerais currently resides at the seminar of Ecône. He speaks French, English and German, and knows Spanish.
