Bernard Squarcini

Bernard Squarcini is a police superintendent French, originating in Ajaccio in Corse-du-Sud. Known as near to Nicolas Sarkozy, he was assistant editor of the General informations (RG) under the direction of Yves Bertrand, which directed RG during 12 years.

Bernard Squarcini was in charge of the information anti-terrorist in Corsica and Basque Country.

In 1990, it is in charge of a section seeks antiterrorist DCRG.

Assistant editor of the General informations under the direction of Yves Bertrand, he was the craftsman of the arrest of Yvan Colonna, the supposed assassin of the prefect Claude Erignac, whereas Nicolas Sarkozy was Minister of Interior Department.

In February 2004, Bernard Squarcini was appointed Delegated chief of police for Safety and Defense near the Prefect of the zone of Southern defense, Préfet of the area PACA, Préfet of the Rhone delta. He succeeded Roger Marion, appointed Delegated chief of police for Safety and Defense at the Prefect of the zone of Northern defense, Préfet of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Préfet of North.

In January 2004, the Minister of Interior Department Nicolas Sarkozy would have wished to name Bernard Squarcini at the central position of director of General informations (DCRG), but Jacques Chirac had preferred to name the prefect Pascal Mailhos.

June 27th, 2007, it was named in the directing Council of Ministers of the Direction of the monitoring of the territory, to replace Pierre de Bousquet de Florian.
