Bernard Pierre Magnan

Bernard Pierre Magnan (December 7th 1791 with Paris - May 29th 1865 in Paris) is a Marshal of France.
Its military career begins like private with the 66e regiment of infantry the December 29th 1809. He quickly becomes corporal, and he obtinet his first ranks in the same regiment, and was successively sergeant on January 1st 1810, quartermaster-sergeant the October 7th according to, second lieutenant the July 20th 1811, lieutenant the February 8th 1813, and captain the September 6th of the same year.
He made with distinction the campaigns of 1810, 1811, 1812 and 1813 in Spain, in Portugal, those of 1814 and 1815 in France and Belgium. He is made knight of the Légion of honor in 1813. Passed in the riflemen of the imperial Guard (1st regiment), the January 13rd 1814, it is named captain adjudant major at the time of the countryside of France and is wounded of a blow of Biscaïen to the low belly with Craonne, the March 7th 1814.
In nonactivity with the return of Louis XVIII, it returns to the 4th regiment of the riflemen of the Guard for the countryside of Waterloo. After the Hundred days, it passes to the 6th regiment of infantry royal Guard.
It was named captain executive officer with the 6th regiment of infantry of the royal guard the October 23rd 1815, and was patented major of the line the September 6th 1817. The August 8th 1820 it passed as major to the 34e of line, lieutenant-colonel to the 60e of line the November 20th 1822, colonel of the 49e the September 21st 1827, and Brigadier the December 31st 1835.
It makes the countryside of Catalogne in 1823, and is put at the day order of the army for its control with the Combat of Espuglas (July 9th 1823) and is decorated knight with Saint-Louis.
It takes part in the conquest of the Algérie, it is quoted at the time of the Bataille of Staoueli (June 19th 1830).
It was promoted with the Major general rank of the October 20th 1845.
In 1830, it represses the first insurrection of Lyon, but is temporarily put of availability to have parlementé with the insurrectionists. Placed at the disposal of the Belgian as a Brigadier general, it is used of the April 17th 1832 for the June 30th 1839 for this country.
It is decorated Commandeur with the Légion of honor in 1833 and occupies the military function of commander of the department of the North of 1839 with 1845. It takes part in the events of 1848 in Lyon where it is wounded in the operations. In 1849, it is high with the dignity of Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor.
It orders starting from the July 14th 1849, the 4th military division (Strasbourg), and joins together with this command that of the troops stationed in the first subdivision (the Low-Rhine). He is appointed the Seine in 1849.
He is named commander-in-chief of the army of Paris in June 1851. He is one of the principal organizers of the coup d'etat of the December 2nd 1851, birthday day of Austerlitz. He is named by Napoleon III senator then Marshal of France in 1852.
In 1862, whereas it is not freemason, Napoleon III names it Grand Master of the Grand the East of France to draw aside Prince Lucien Murat. It was initiated and accepted the 33 degrees in 48 hours.
Created knight the June 23rd 1813, officer the March 20th 1820, and commander the November 15th 1835, it was named Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor the June 23rd 1849.
Charles X had created it Chevalier of Saint-Louis in November 1825, and, in 1823, it had received the cord of the Ordre of Saint-Ferdinand of Spain (2nd class).
