In works of fiction

It is one of the principal characters of the novel the Name of the pink of Umberto Eco in which it seems a fanatic individual, cruel and despotic who opposes the logical reasoning savagely, rather preferring to rely entirely on his inébranlable faith as a God, like with the Croyance S and the Superstition S of his time.

One finds this character in the cinematographic adaption of the novel, in the film the Name of the pink , of Jean-Jacques Annaud, where he is interpreted by the American actor F. Murray Abraham.
