Biography
Bernard Frank is high in a family of laic and easy Jews whose patriarch is framework of bank. He passes the war in Auvergne, which leaves him seems he an excellent memory, then returns to Paris in 1946. After its baccalaureat, it begins improbable studies : a Hypokhâgne with the college Pasteur, of which it in is returned for bad conduct; it then tries to continue its preparatory class with the Lycée Condorcet (Paris) but it gives up by trouble its studies during the second quarters.
At 20 years, it meets Jean-Paul Sartre which entrusts to him, as test, the literary chronicle in Modern times . He collaborates episodically in the review, until scrambling with his executive team after the publication of his novel the Rats (1953) where he does of Sartre one of his characters.
In the years 1952-1953, it becomes responsible for the literary column with the Observer in the place of Maurice Nadeau. It starts its collaboration with the weekly magazine by a double page which it devotes to Drieu La Rochelle. It allots the nickname of " Hussards" with the group of Nimier, Cableway and some other authors who redécouvrent the virtues of Morand and Drieu La Rochelle, nickname which will remain to them. As collaborating in the World , with the Book of the seasons , the New Ingenuous and the Topicality , it “vituperates each autumn the applicants with the literary prizes, invariably judges as too many bad novels are published, gausse of the fellow-members which find genius with least the bluettes of season and pushes the scruple, doubled the ridiculous one, until summarizing them”.
At the end of 1961, it becomes acquainted with Jean Daniel at the time of a hospitalization in a private clinic of Neuilly where them friendly Claude Perdriel had “malicieusement perhaps” the idea to join together them. He collaborates then in the Nouvel Observateur starting from second half of the years 1960.

Very related to Francoise Sagan, Bernard Frank described itself like having lived a life of social, alive parasite a long time in his friends and working little - not very credible postulate in comparison with the mass of its work - having discovered on late the responsibilities for the adulthood and worried primarily of his readings and his meals. Attaching personality, free man, in love insane with the literature, it seems that Bernard Frank was never estimated at his right value.
He dies the November 3rd 2006, of a striking down Heart attack whereas he was at the restaurant, with Paris in the 8th district, in company of a friend. His wife indicated that he “spoke political” at the fatal moment.
