Bernard Barbiche

Bernard Barbiche is a modernistic historian French, born the July 28th 1937.

Palaeographer (graduate of the National school of the charters) thanks to a thesis supported in 1960 having for title Study on the work of financial restoration of Sully, 1596-1610 , he was member of the French École of Rome (1960 - 1962).

Initially preserving with the Public records of 1960 with 1972, then professor of diplomatic, archivistic and the institutions of the modern time to the School of the charters of 1977 with 2004, it is one of the best French experts of the Wars of religion and the work of Sully.

Professor emeritus since 2004, he is president of the Company of the School of the charters, vice-president of the Company of religious history of France and director of the collection “religious History of France” to the Éditions of the Stag. He also takes part in the committee of publication of the Bibliothèque of the School of the charters .
