Biography

Youth

It is born the May 18th 1933. Girl of Jean-Louis Chodron de Courcel (1907 - deceased), business manager and of Marguerite de Brondeau d' Urtières (1910 - 2000), it is the older sister of Catherine (1946) and Jerome (1948). She is resulting from a family Catholique very practicing: members of its family carry as second or third first name of the names of popes, Sixte and a Magpie; one of his/her aunts bears the name of Jeanne d' Arc on her registry office. One of his/her uncles, Vincent Chodron de Courcel, is priest, and his aunt Anne-Marie Chodron de Courcel, Chanoinesse regular of Saint-Augustin.

She receives a strict and severe education of her mother. His/her father, mobilized in 1939, is prisoner in Germany during the Second world war until in 1945. In June 1940, it leaves with his/her mother in the castle her grandmother the Countess Brondeau d' Urtières, with Coudène, in Lot-et-Garonne. She is registered at the Holy-Marthe school with Agen. Of 1941 with 1943, after the occupation of the free Zone, it is the exile in another castle, that of an aunt, in Poilly-lez-Gien, three kilometers of Gien, in the Loiret. After the death of Claude Pompidou, his large friend Bernadette Chirac becomes in September 2007 the new president of the Foundation Claude Pompidou.
