Bern (New York)

Bern is a locality of the Comté of Albany (New York), in the State of New York, with the the United States. Its surface is of 167,7  km ² (64,8  semi ²). It counted: 2846 inhabitants in 2000. Densité : 17,1  hab/km ² (44,4  hab/mi ²). Coordinates géographiques :.

History

It is before 1750 that the first colonists settle. At the time, this place names Beaver Dam (also spelled Beaverdam), “  stopping of the castor  ”.

The town of Bern (spelled initially “  Bern  ”) in 1795 is founded. It formed part before that of the city of Rensselaerville. In 1822, the northern half of Bern becomes the town of Knox.
