Bern (New York)

History
It is before 1750 that the first colonists settle. At the time, this place names Beaver Dam (also spelled Beaverdam), “ stopping of the castor ”.
The town of Bern (spelled initially “ Bern ”) in 1795 is founded. It formed part before that of the city of Rensselaerville. In 1822, the northern half of Bern becomes the town of Knox.
