Berchères-on-Vesgre is a common French, located in the department of Eure-et-Loir and the area Center.

Geography

History

The hamlet of the Bishop City-the, which depended on the bishop of Chartres, was joined together with the commune in 1854.

Berchères on Vesgre belongs to the Community of " Communes; Villages of Drouais" since 2007.

Places and monuments

  • Castle of Herces : The ground of Herces belonged in 1137 to Amaury III, lord of Montfort and count d' Évreux. A castle was built between XIVe and XVe century by the family of Simon de Richebourg. In 1710, Louis de Lignières, the last wire of Colbert, bought the field which was resold in 1760 with Mr. de Beaumanoir. The current castle was built in 1772 by the architect Jacques Denis Antoine, architect of the mint with Paris for the Intendant of finances Charles Robert Boutin, which preserved it until in 1791. Of collected plan, this remarkable castle, raised on three stages, is announced above all by the fact that, like the Petit Trianon, it presents four different frontages under a continuous Entablement.
