Berberidaceae
The family of the Berbéridacées is a family of plants Dicotylédone S which includes/understands 574 Espèce S divided into several kind S:

- Berberis L.
- Caulophyllum Michx.
- Diphylleia Michx.
- Epimedium L.
- Jeffersonia W. Bart.
- Mahonia Nutt.
- Nandina Thunb.
- Podophyllum L. -- Apple of May Podophyllum peltatum
- Vancouveria Morr. and Dcne.
They are shrubs with fabrics coloured in yellow by the berbérine or of the more or less herbaceous plants, with sheets frequently transformed into spines of the areas moderated with subtropical largely widespread in the Northern hemisphere.
In France, one can quote the kinds:
- Berberis which includes/understands the berberis and of the decorative species to the red foliage used for the realization of resistant hedges (thorny). The spine barberry a long time was systematically destroyed because it is a natural basin of the rust of the Blé.
- Mahonia with the Mahonia with sheets of houx originating in North America (Oregon bunch) and used like plants decorative.
The bays of certain species of the kind Berberis are edible and can be used as condiment.
According to the last revision of phylogenetic classification, this family counts in fact 701 species in 18 kinds including 600 only for the kind Berberis with 4 kinds ( Leontice, Bongardia, Caulophyllum, Gymnospermium ) coming from the family of the Leonticaceae , a kind Nandina in the past family of the Nandinaceae and 8 kinds Aceranthus, Achlys, Diphylleia, Dysosma, Jeffersonia, Podophyllum, Ranzania, Sinopodophyllum coming from the family of the Podophyllaceae .
