Bentanat

Bentanat is elder girls of Ramsès {{II}} and large royal wife Isis-Néféret. Its name of Asian origin means girl of the goddess Anat . She was born under the reign from Séthi {{Ier}} whereas Ramsès was only crown prince (before -1279). She married her own father during the second decade of the reign and obtained the title of large royal wife with died of Néfertari (year 24 or 25), title which she divides with the oldest daughter of the latter, his/her half-sister Mérytamon. She played a big role at the court, especially after the death of her mother Isis-Néféret (year 34). She gave to Ramsès a girl, Bentanat.

She appears in the sides of Ramsès in the large temple of Abou Simbel (second southern colossus) and in the head of the many representations that Ramsès {{II}} made make his/her children (in particular inside largest of the Temples of Abou Simbel and in the Ramesséum). Its tomb carries N° 71 of the Vallée of the queens.
