Benoit Jacques

Benoît Jacques , born with Brussels in 1958 is an author of Cartoon and an artist originating in Belgium.

In its birthplace, it follows the courses of the Royal Académie of the Art schools then is registered at the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of Visual Arts of Cambers it. He works a certain time in British graphics in (at Pentagram Design) then, in 1991, settles in France where he often publishes itself his production.

Developing an atypical work - at the borders of the cartoon and Contemporary art -, Benoît Jacques uses unusual materials: Broderie (carried out by Harizo Rakotomalala, an embroidering-machine of Madagascar), wood, metal, etc Its books (works of illustrations, portfolios, cartoons and Flip book S) know rather confidential pullings and car-are diffused, which classifies them rather office in the economy of the Livre of artist than in that of the cartoon.

The influences of Benoit Jacques are very diverse: Bob and Bobette, Paul Klee, the graphic design Anglo-Saxon, the rough Art, ethnic art, in particular.
