Benoit II (born with Rome? - † id. , May 8th 685) was Pape of 684 with 685.

According to the tradition, it was born with Rome and has as a named father a Jean. After an education with the Schola cantorum , it becomes priest. Elected official Pope the June 26th 684, it obtains that the confirmation is given either by the emperor, but by the exarque of Ravenne. Calculation is simple: weak politically, the Exarque would always approve the decisions of Rome. The pontificate of Benoit II is marked by his attention towards the poor, confining with the populism. Benoit II also reinforces the position of the pope by chairing all the civil ceremonies of Rome.
