Benny Moré

Benny Moré (or Beny Moré ) is the name under which is known the singer and cuban type-setter Maximiliano Bartolomé Moré Gutierrez , born the August 24th 1919 with Santa Isabel de Las Lajas (city to which it devoted one of his compositions) with Cuba, and regarded as the largest cuban singer of all times. He is deceased (of cirrhosis) the February 19th 1963, 43 years old, with 9:15 in the bed n°22 of the room H of the Hospital of Havana.

The singer

Improviser virtuoso, it was endowed with an innate musical direction and a voice of Ténor which could color its musical expression. He controlled to perfection all the cuban musical genres, and more particularly the His montuno, the Mambo (he was called the “ Barbare of Mambo ”), and the Boléro.

In 1944, it is brought to replace Miguel Matamoros with the song in the Conjunto Matamoros.

In 1953, it forms its own orchestra: Bandaged It Gigante .

Memorandum

Every year a cuban festival which bears its name takes place in September with Cienfuegos. Many songs with the glory of the cuban music mention its name. In the cuban capital (Havana) a club of salsa bears its name.

In 2006, a film entitled El Benny left in Cuba moved crowd. Y appear Chucho Valdés, Juan Formell and Orishas.
