Benjamin Stora

Benjamin Stora , born in 1950 with Constantine, is a Historien French, specialist in the contemporary Algérie and Algerian Immigration in France.

Biography

Doctor of history and sociology, it teaches the history of the Maghreb and the French Colonisation (Indo-China-Africa) and Co-directs the Institute Maghreb-Europe to Paris Viii-St Denis since 1990. He is currently professor of the universities to the National institute of the languages and civilizations Eastern (age of the Maghreb).

It was interested, in particular, with Messali Hadj, the fights between Algerian freedom fighters (Front of national release against Algerian National movement), with the Histoire of the Jews of Algeria, and with the memory of the Guerre of Algeria.

Militant Trotskyste in May 68, he is member of the communist Organization internationalist until 1986. He signs in 2007 the call of the intellectuals inviting to vote for Ségolène Royal.
