Benjamin Silliman Jr. is a American Chimiste born in 1816 and deceased in 1855.

In 1855, resuming former work, it found a certain number of natural products by Distillation of the Pétrole: Tar S, Lubricant S, Naphtha, Solvent S for paintings as well as the gasoline which, regarded at the time as produces minor, was used like stain-remover.
