Benishangul-Gumaz
The Benishangul-Gumaz is one of nine ethnic divisions (Kililoch) of the Ethiopia. Its chief town is Asosa.
The Exchange Statistics Agency (Ethiopian Agency of the Statistics) estimates its population at 625.000 inhabitants. Of a surface of 49.289 km ², Benishangul-Gumaz has one population density of 12,68 hab. /km ². 90,1% of its population are rural.
Native-born people of the areas, the such Berta, Gumaz and the Shinasha, have more similarities with the tribes of the close Sudan. The area undergoes a strong migration will amhara during the mode of the Derg.
