Benguela

Benguela is a town of Angola, chief town of the province of Benguela, located on the coast Atlantique at the south of the capital Luanda.

The city was founded in 1617 by the Portuguese and was an important shopping mall, in particular for the draft of the Esclave S towards the Brésil and Cuba. Currently the port into water-deep of Lobito is a more important port, more used for the regional trade.

The population of the city was into 1983 of 155.000 inhabitants, of many refugees settled in Benguela during the civil geurre.
