Beng-Thi jack

Jack Beng-Thi is a Artiste Plasticien, Sculpteur French, born in 1951 with the Port, island of the Meeting. Graduate of the University of Beautiful arts of Toulouse in 1977, it is also titular of a Control in Visual arts obtained with the Université of Paris VIII. Of 197O at 1978 it will go on an initiatory journey traversing various countries of Europe and Latin America. Recipient of a purse of the Town of Paris to beginning of the year 80, it becomes during two years boarder of the international Cité of Arts. He will carry out to it a reflection and a research in the dramatic space of the bodies, an identity search which finds its resonance in plastic installations which métissent materials, ground, wood, vegetable fibers, transcendent of the individual and collective memories. The photograph (documentary image-trace) is used as a basis for its creation. From 1986 to 1990, he forsakes the workshop for a work in the landscape of the island (Homage to the Lieux volcano of memory). In 1994 it creates with other artists the Austral group for a new reflection on Art in the cultural mobility of indo-oceanic space.

Between 1995 and 1998, it takes part in cultural exchanges, exposures and biennial in various countries (Madagascar, South Africa, Namibia, Cuba, Congo, Haiti). These last experiments upset its artistic practice which opens the way towards new esthetic sources and of inspiration. At the time of its residences, he teaches the visual arts in the vocational schools and Workshops. He is also teaching in sculpture with the university of the Art schools of the Meeting.
