The Benfica Lisbon ( Sport Lisboa E Benfica in Portuguese) is a club Portuguese general sports including in particular a section Football. This article is devoted to this section football (see the section general sports). The club chaired by Shine Filipe Vieira and pulled by Fernando Santos then Jose Antonio Camacho after the first match of championship, in 2006 evolves/moves - 2007 in Super Liga Portuguese.
The Club
- the club is founded the February 28th 1904 under the name “Lisboa Sport”. In 1908, the club amalgamates with the “Grupo de Sport Benfica” (founded in 1906) and adopts the name of “Sport Lisboa E Benfica”.
- It is one of the founding members of the Super Liga in 1934.
- In November 2006, the club of Benfica enters the book of the records like the club in the world having the most " socios" (subscribers). With 160.000 " socios" throughout the world, Benfica precedes Manchester United and the Bayern Munich.
