Bénédicte Gaillard is a grammairienne and French lexicographer. Its approach of the training of the French language is innovative.
The idea is that the control of the French language is acquired by privileging the comprehension and the analyzes and not by learning by heart , as the handbooks such as the Bescherelle or the Bled recommend it. From frequently made faults, it shows the principal rules which govern the language and proposes all the regularities of French, convinced that they are much more numerous than the irregularities about which one generally speaks.
Examples:
- Much of people dangeureusement by analogy with unfortunately writes whereas if one thinks well of the name danger , one writes without fault dangerously.
- The demonstration that the conjugation of the verb to boil is quite as regular as that of the verb to sleep .
Its vision on the evolution of the French language, supported by its experiment of lexicographer, in fact enthusiastic a partisane of the orthographical Corrections of 1990.
