Benedetto Croce (Pescasseroli, February 25th 1866 - Naples, November 20th 1952) is a writer, Philosophe and Italian politician , founder of the Italian Liberal party.
Continuator of the thought of Hegel, influenced by Antonio Labriola, but near also to Giambattista Vico and Wilhelm von Humboldt, it opposed the Fascisme and the engagement of his former collaborator Giovanni Gentile. The main themes of its work are the Esthétique and the Philosophie of the history (known as also Historicisme). It brought esthetics closer to the philosophy of the language.
