Benjamin Francis, Ben Webster , is a Saxophoniste of Jazz born the March 27th 1909 with Kansas City (Missouri), died in Amsterdam, the September 20th 1973

Biography
He studies initially the Violon and the Piano on which he begins in the orchestras from Rusty Nelson and Dutch Campbell. Budd Johnson gives him her first lessons of Saxophone tenor. Instrument to which it turns in 1930. He then plays in various orchestras such those of Fletcher Henderson (1934), Benny Carter or Cab Calloway (1936 - 1937). In the Forties, it joined the orchestra of Duke Ellington as a soloist. It takes part in several recordings of which famous “the Cotton Tail”. It leaves the orchestra of Duke Ellington in 1943 and works in the clubs of New York, either as leader, or like Sideman. It returns to Duke Ellington (1948 - 1949) before integrating the orchestra of Count Basie (1953) and taking part in many rounds of JATPHe moved in 1964 with Copenhagen where he occurred occasionally.
Its style, marked by the importance of the melody is characterized by its capacity to alternate one phrased to tend, in particular on the Ballade S and an almost rough ardor, in particular in the fast tempos. The use of a nozzle metal to large opening and its capacity to engage a great quantity of air, confer a sonority to him at the same time powerful and moving.
