Ben Reilly

Ben Reilly , so known like Scarlet Spider and second Spider-Man , is a character pertaining to the universe of Marvel Comics. It appeared for the first time in The Amazing Spider-Man #149 (October 1975).

Biography

It is about a clone of Peter Parker (alias the superman Spider-Man), created by the professor Miles Warren, the Jackal. He was a major character of Saga of the Clones.

After having wandered through the United States, followed by Kaine, it ends up becoming the superman Scarlet Spider , and integrated the team of the New Warriors.

Convinced to be a clone, it arrived one day in an inn in which it was pointed out for its with dimensions " tueur". It was helped by called Seward Trainer, which looked after it, helped it and relied on him. Very quickly, Seward learned that Ben Reilly was Scarlet Spider.

Convinced one moment to be truth Peter Parker (after genetic tests whose results proved to be false), it replaced this last under the costume of Spider-Man.

It saved Seward Carolyn Trainer (alias Doctor Octopus II), also succeeds in overcoming the Vulture which had absorbed the energy of Peter Parker (who, at the time, was persuaded to be the clone and not the Peter Parker original), and met a former friend of its uncle Ben, which proved that, even if it were a clone, it was not less worthy of Ben Parker.

It was sacrificed in Spider-Man #75, to save Peter Parker of the Green Bouffon (Norman Osborn). The degradation of its body confirmed that it was the clone.

In the universe Ultimate Marvel

A scientist named Ben Reilly made his appearance in the series Ultimate Spider-Man, during the saga Carnage. Actually, this character is not at all the clone of Peter Parker (Ben Reilly being older and of black color), but the collaborator of Doctor Curt Conners (alias the Lizard), with which he works on a project aiming at manufacturing a clone, combining the blood of Spider-Man and the symbion created by Richard Parker and Eddie Brock Senior (fathers of Peter Parker and Eddie Brock Junior). Unfortunately, the experimental subject (named Little Ben by Reilly) escaped control from its creators, and flees of the laboratory, killing several people in her wake (of which Gwen Stacy). Following these murders, an police investigation was open, and Ben Reilly carried with him his personal research.

Thereafter, it is done recruited by the agent of the FBI Henry Gyrich, which wants to have its own army of super-soldier. Then, it helps Doctor Otto Octavius, also recruited to him by Henry, has to create clones of Peter Parker and a clone of Gwen Stacy.
