Belt of distribution

A Belt of distribution , chain of distribution , or toothed belt , is a fundamental part of the internal combustion engine modern which controls the opening or the closing of the valves. It is notched in order to transmit the rotation of the crankshaft to one or more camshafts in a perfectly synchronized way.

Maintenance

The belts of distribution have the advantage of not requiring any greasing and of being quiet, on the other hand their periodic replacement is imperative (the every 50.000 to 100.000 kilometers but also in time, namely when mileage is not reached; it recommended its replacement at 5 years of age , according to the engine, less for certain motor bikes), because the rupture of this body is often destroying for the whole of the high engine. In certain engines, this belt is replaced by a chain, more robust (to be replaced by precaution every 250.000 km) and of lifespan theoretically higher than that of the whole of the engine.
