The river Belize (in English Belize To rivet ) is a river of 290 km taking its source with the Guatemala and crossing the Belize and whose basin covers more of the quarter of the country. It runs along the northern slope of the Montagnes Maya, crosses the center of the country to throw itself in the Caribbean Sea close to the port of Belize City. Also known under the name of Old To rivet , the Belize river is navigable to the border with Guatemala. It was used as main axis of communication and trade between the interior of the country and the coast until the middle of the 20th century.

The Belize river starts with the junction of the rivers Mopan River and Macal in Guatemala. It runs in the valley which bears its name and which is largely covered by the Tropical forest.
