Belgeard
Belgeard is a common French, located in the department of the Mayenne and the area Pays of the Loire.
Geography
History
The commune of Belgeard until June 8th, 1876 had as a chief town the borough of Belgeard. With the borough of Belgeard were the town hall, the church, the houses of school, the presbytery but Belgeard had much less importance than Bourgnouvel like population and trade.Time when Bazoge-Montpinçon had neither church nor school, Belgeard was in the center of the two communes and deserved to be preserved like chief town, but when Bazoge-Montpinçon had are church, its priest and his school, the inhabitants of Bourgnouvel solved to supplant the borough of Belgeard. The deaf fight initially began openly in 1871.
Some leaders with the head of the majority of the members of the municipal council undertook to find the money and the materials necessary for the constructions required for the change of chief town and since 1873, of the schools, a church, a presbytery were built and on August 3rd of the same year, a deliberation justified with documentary proof required the transfer of the chief town of the commune of Bourgnouvel.
Investigations, administrative difficulties will make await during nearly the three years the decision of the general advice which will decide in favor of the transfers of the chief town of the commune of Belgeard to Bourgnouvel only in April 1876.
According to the decisions of the general advice, Mister the Prefect took the following decree: " Art 1st: in accordance with the decision of the general advice, the chief town of the commune of Belgeard is transferred to Bourgnouvel without change from denomination, the whole in accordance with the decision of this assembly. Art 2: Mister the Sub-prefect of Mayenne is in charge of the execution of the present arrêté."
Administration
In 2006, the mayor is Mr Jean-Pierre Chouzy.
Demography
Today, in 2006, the village of Belgeard counts not far from 500 inhabitants.

In 1818, the contess Blanche of Castille would have placed during one night in a house which bears the name of " today; CASTILLE" with 12 rue du lily of the valley.
