After several days of voyage, it is made congédier without care, and arrives to Ulgos having refused to follow their guide in the mountains. These unhappy having seen their struck wives of sterility, they is not then any more that one band of old men and sees the arrival of Garath as good omen. This last spends a comfortable winter then, but wearied kindness of Ulgos, it takes again its freedom as of next spring.
While arriving in a clearing, he discovers a splendid tree and loses himself in his contemplation during months. To its alarm clock, the winter arrived and its end seems extremely close. At this point in time a man opens the door of his tower to him. This man offers a meal to him, in exchange of menus service. Garath then will cease its vagrancies and will yield with all that the old man will prescribe to him. Being from a very talkative naturalness, the man learns how to him to read and with provision a library leaves him which seems to be renewed to each time it comes to end. Garath develops a field crop thus. However, the man makes him complete increasingly arduous work, and especially increasingly stupid! One day when it was to roll a large stone, it discovers the secrecy of the magic: " to want and the verbe". At this time there, the old man reveals to him that it is in fact the Aldur god and that from now, it is his disciple and renames it: Belgarath.
Disciples, the meeting with Poledra and the first war of the gods
Gradually, other individuals of all the people of the West joined Belgarath which found instructor as a chief. But with its great shame, it appeared that it was less endowed with all and was far from being most intelligent. But it had an advantage: its great will and an incredible political direction. And especially a fidelity inébranlable towards Aldur.
Aldur had six brother: Belar, Nedra, Mara, Torak, Chaldan and Issa. Each one of them had the responsibility for people. Of all these brothers, Torak was most beautiful and most powerful. Its people, Angaraks, had become most prosperous démographiquement in the absence of being happiest… Indeed, the human fear and sacrifices were the rule at Angaraks.
The fidelity of Belgarath with Aldur was the pretext for the first fixing between him and Torak. This last advised to him to make low profile, but Belgarath resisted. A little later Torak returned and stole the sphere of Aldur. To send on mission to rejoin Belar, Belgarath which had been transformed into wolf for the voyage, met a splendid she-wolf which stuck to its steps. Having convinced Belar to line up side of Aldur, while its school-fellows made in the same way with the other gods, it followed from there long battles during which the Angarak people were almost destroyed. Seeing the disaster, Torak drew up the sphere and split the world. An ocean then separated Angaraks from the other people and this for several centuries.
Years of unconcern
The few two miles years which followed were relatively calm for Belgarath. It had received for mission on behalf of Aldur of making so that certain people marry and procreate between them. Nevertheless, these marriages " imposés" were not the fact of a whim on behalf of Aldur. They answered a need, making it possible to set in motion events which would find their outcome later only thousands of years. And the need was not ungrateful. The marriages thus imposed appeared invariably happy (even if recalcitrant fathers saw themselves breaking an arm or a leg…). While returning from one of its missions, it fell on one charming cottage inhabited by an extremely beautiful woman. This woman was not other than the Polera she-wolf changed into a woman. They ended up marrying, and went to live in the tower of Belgarath.
During this time there, the various Kingdoms of the West developed. Alloriens of Bélar in North, then asturiens of Chaldan, marags of Mara, tolnédrains of Nédra, finally Niisiens d' Issa. Each people developed his own personality. The alloriens primitive brawlers and a bit, asturiens so chivalrous that the civil war became the standard on their premises, marags, people venerating the beauty and conduit by the women, the tolnédrains crafty ones and marked by the lure of gain and the niisens, people plunged in drug to the eyes. Another people, the ulgos, lived hidden in the caves. One day, King d' Allorie, Cherek Garrot-with Ours and his three sons, Algar Foot-Leger, Dras Neck-with Auroch and Riva Point-of-Iron, were presented to the tower of Belgarath louse to announce to him that they had found a passage towards Mallorée and that predict them indicated that it was time to go to recover the Sphere of Aldur.
Forwarding in Mallorée
Torak had been withdrawn in a city surrounded by darkness, completely built out of iron. Part of the population the follow-up and a very hierarchical company was born, so much so that morphological and psychological differences were done day. But they could not be expressed under comes up of iron of Torak. This last let the remainder of Mallorée only be controlled. At the time when Belgarath and its three accomplices left for their search, one particularly icy winter prevailed. Wearied to run behind these three giants of aloriens, Belgarath changes then into wolf and makes undergo a particularly painful drive with its accomplices (especially to be avenged to have to leave its expectant mother…). After several weeks of voyage, they end up arriving in Mallorée, manage to slip into the iron tower of Torak to the favor of the night and are introduced into its room. There, a choice must be made: one of the four aloriens must take the sphere and it must do it consciously because it will keep of it the guard until the end of its life, like its descent. Finally, Riva take the sphere and the small troop flees. As envisaged, Torak is furious and launches its troops to their continuation, but Iron Poing uses the sphere so as to destroy the prosecutors. Thus Belgarath and its acquolites manage to join their continent. At one time of the voyage, Aldur joined them and speaks in Belgarath. This last must announce in Cherek that its immense kingdom cannot exist any more under its current form and that it must divide it. Dras the groin receives the moors of North and names them Drasnie (with for Boktor capital), Algar will receive the grassy plains of the east but Algarie will be a region of nomad, Cherek keeps the valley of Alorie but will have at its disposal the most powerful fleet in the world. When in Riva, it must be exiled on the Island of the Winds or it must build a gigantic fortress which will protect the sphere from the external attacks.
