Belair castle

The castle Belair , is a wine field of 12,5 ha located at Saint-Émilion in the Gironde. In AOC St. Emilion, it is classified First great wine classified B in the last Classements of the wines of St. Emilion of 2006.

History of the field

At the 14th century, the castle is the property of the Grand seneshal and governor of Guyenne Robert de Knolles. The descendants of Knolles remained in the area after the return of Aquitaine in the French bosom, and francized their name which became Canolle. The field is then called Cru of Canolle, before becoming Belair. Confiscated with the French revolution, the field was restored, and taken its rise during the 19th century.

The field passed to the Dubois-Callon family into 1916 which confirmed the name of Belair castle. Classified first Great wine since 1954, the Belair castle is the current property of Pascal Delbeck.

The soil

The ground is argilo-limestone on Molasse S and Limon.

Wine

Encépagement to 80% consists of Merlot and 20% of frank Cabernet with vines some 40 year old of Middle Age planted with a density of 6500 pieds/ha. The outputs are of 39 hl/ha. The size carried out is in Guyot doubles.
