Bekasi

Bekasi (to pronounce Beukassi ) is a city indonésienne of the island of Java, located not far from the northern littoral, in the province of Java-west. The city densément is densément populated (9 178 hbts/km ²) and counted 1.932.000 million inhabitants in 2003.

It is the chief town of the Kabupaten (department) of the same name.

As in all the indonésiennes big cities, pollution reaches worrying proportions affecting health. Bekasi also was the subject of an attention of the media for its cases of Avian flu in August 2006. It is one of the places where one suspect which existed transmissions interhumaines.
