Beggars Banquet Records

Beggars Banquet Records is a Independent label English. It bears the name of a famous album of the Rolling Stones: Beggars Banquet.
It is at the beginning a chain of magazins pertaining to Martin Mills and Nick Austin. In 1977, inspired by the artisanal tendency of the movement Punk rock'n'roll, it decide to launch out and publish discs. The first group on the label is the punk group The Lurkers. In the years 1980, the tubes of Tubeway Army or Gary Numan make it possible to reach a certain financial safety.
It launches two label, Situation Two and 4AD Records, in order to publish artists such as The Charlatans, Red Truck Yellow Truck, Play Dead, The Pixies, The Cocteau Twins, M/A/R/R/S. Another subdivision, XL Recordings, to accommodate artists dance like The Prodigy, Lemon Jello or Meanly Jaxx. The labels Mantra Records, Mo' Wax, Locked One Records, Matador Nation, Too Pure and Wiiija form also part of Beggars Group .
Its French subsidiary company is directed by Laurent Rossi.
