The been vermiculated Œdicnème ( Burhinus vermiculatus ) is a bird of the family of the Burhinidae. It is a species Endémique African continent.
Description
This bird, which presents resemblances to certain plovers, has the mottled brown back of black, the white chest mottled of brown and the white belly. It has on the wings a grayer wing band, bordered of black. It has long legs and large eyes of color yellow-green.
Behavior
It is more active at the dawn and the twilight that of day. During the day, there remains generally lying under cover of the vegetation.
Distribution and habitat
Been vermiculated Œdicnème is endemic African continent. One can meet it in all the nondesert zones of sub-Saharan Africa.He lives on the edge of lake or river presenting a vegetable cover.
Statute and safeguarding
The population of this species was estimated at 35.000-130 000 individuals.Because of importance of this population, of its large surface of distribution (more than 5 million km2) and of its apparent stability, the IUCN classified this species in category LLC (minor concern).
