The race Beefmaster is a bovine race American

Origin

It is a European ox hybrid, Bos taurus , and of Zébu, Bos taurus indicus . He was created on the Ranch Lasater with the Texas starting from 1908. He includes/understands approximately 25% of hereford, 25% of Shorthorn and 50% of Brahman.
Il is high with the Texas, its country of origin, but one also finds it in ETAS bordering and even in Australia.

Morphology

It generally wears a dress uniformly red, but there is no indexed type. The individuals can or not be carrying horns. The selection related only to criteria prodcutif, also esthetics is it variable. The ears are attached low on the head and their broad pace indicates a relationship with the zebu. In the same way, the males have a prominent garrot which points out the bump of the zebus.

Aptitude

It is high only for its value bouchère. The successive selectors continued the work undertaken by Mr. Lasater. Recognized qualities of the beefmaster are:
  • maternal Good qualities: fertility and good lactation.
  • Robustness.
  • Weight and conformation of carcass.
The calves resulting from this race fatten themselves well in Feed batches.
