The village is cut into two by the international border. The local legend claims that the determination of the layout of the Frontière, was entrusted to a group of Arpenteur S quite drunk, which decided to place the border in full heart of the village at length of what is now the street CanUSA. (nominally with 45.00°N)

The original owners were a couple binational; Mr. Carlos F. Haskell, an American business man of Line Derby, VT (owner of some sawmills) and Mrs. Haskell, Canadian citizen. The intention was that people on the two sides of the Frontière can make use of it.
