Bedous
Bedous is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.
Geography
The common one belongs to the Vallée of Winder and its grounds are sprinkled by two affluents of the Gave d' Aspe, the arricq of Casteigbou and the Gave d' Aydius, and by the brook of Sahun, tributary of this last.

Toponymy
The toponym Bedous appears in the forms Bedoos (1250, for of Winder), Saint Michel of Bedous (1675, insinuation of the diocese of Oloron).It is derived from the radical betu (betulla means Latin birch) and means place where there are birches .
The toponym Orcun appears in the forms Orqunh (1247, fors of Aspe), Orcunh (1441, notaries of Oloron), Orchunh (1449, payments of the Majour Court of Béarn), Sanctus-Joannes d' Orcun (1608, insinuations of the diocese of Oloron).
History
Paul Raymond note which the commune counted a laic abbey, vassal of the Viscount of Béarn.In 1385, Bedous counted 62 fires and Orcun 15. The two communes depended on the Bailliage of Aspe.
Orcun also had a laic, vassal abbey of the Viscount of Béarn.
