Beautiful Canto (group)

Bel Canto is a group of Norwegian Rock founded in 1985, including/understanding the singer Anneli Drecker .

General information

The group is formed in 1985 with Tromsø (the city which includes/understands the most septentrional university of the Europe) when the Norwegian musicians the Nile Johansen and Geir Jenssen recruit the singer Anneli Marian Drecker within Bel Canto.

The first two albums of the group are marked by the industrial sounds almost of the synthetizers of Johansen and Jenssen.

Geir Jenssen leaves the group in 1989 to found Biosphere, while the duet Drecker/Johansen starts a turn towards the pop one and the Musiques of the world, as testifies to it the third album Shimmering, Warm & Bright in 1992.

The production of the group is done now more restricted: the albums of Beautiful Canto alternate with the solos projects of Anneli Drecker, collaborations of the latter with the other Norwegian groups which are Have-ha and Röyksopp, like its maternities.
