Beautiful-Isle-in-Ground ( Benac' H into Breton) is a common French, located in the department of the Coast-with Armor and the area Brittany. Its inhabitants is called the Bellilois .

It should not be confused with Belle-Île (or Belle-Île at sea ), island of the coast of the Morbihan!

Geography

History

At the 12th century, monks of Beautiful-Isle-in-Sea came to base a monastery on the site of Locmaria. The city would date in fact from the 9th century, founded by Lexobiens, a tribe of Yaudet driven out of the seaside by the Norman ones. At the time of the crusades, one made there build an old people's home in order to look after the crusaders and the pilgrims. The name of the city, at the 17th century, is Bellisle. To the next century, the ground qualifier “” is added. The final form “Beautiful-isle-in-Ground” goes back apparently to 1776.

From the XIII at the 15th century, one finds the names following (by chronological order): Beautiful Isle, Belisle, Beliles, Beautiful-Isle, Venice, Benigla, villa of Pulchra Insula, Bleated Insula and Belille.

The commune of Beautiful-Isle-in-Ground is formed of the following villages: Leslehou, Coat-Malouarn, Loc-Maria, PEN-year-Ec' H, Boissière, Loguellou, Foz, Penquer, Galvezou, Kerguignès-Angall, Penbleiz, Panfourby, the Bump, etc
