Charles IX, coming from Dijon, enters the city on May 30th, 1564 at the time of royal sound Tour de France (1564 - 1566), accompanied by the Cour and Large by the kingdom: his/her brother the duke of Anjou, Henri de Navarre, cardinal of Bourbon and Lorraine : they receive a triumphal reception.In 1568, Wolfgang of Bavaria, duke of Double-decker, which leads reinforcements to the Protestants, enters the city and plunders it.
Contemporary time
Beaune is a highway triangle. It is there that occurred the Accident of Beaune of the the July 31st 1982 which remains today still, most fatal of France.
Heraldic
Malta-Brown, in illustrated France , brings back two Blasonnement S for the traditional weapons of the town of Beaune:1°) “until 1540”: “Money Bellonne on a bottom of azure, upright, holding of the right hand a naked sword, and the left pressed on the chest. ” - Note:: this blasonnement in its statement…is not very orthodoxe
2°) “after 1540”: “Of azure, with a Notre-Dame, holding the Jesus child of the left hand, and a bunch of grapes of the hand droite ; the Jesus child holding a vine stock of gold,” with these words: “CAUSA NOSTRÆ LÆTITIÆ”, changed later into those: “ORBIS and URBIS HONOR”.

- Remparts : contrary to Dijon, Beaune kept most of its strengthened belt. The turn of the ramparts constitutes a beautiful walk and makes it possible to admire several turns, bastions and boulevards.
- House Rebirth: 18 rue de Lorraine. This house allotted to the Burgundian architect Hugues SAMBIN (Gray 1518-Dijon about 1601) is classified with the Inventory of the Historic buildings (December 1927). It since the 19th century is occupied by a notarial study. It is in one of the offices giving on the court that Maître Paul Laneyrie, notary and resistant were stopped in 1944 by Gestapo to be off-set in Neuengamme (Germany), of which it did not return.
